Westwood only Lake Travis foe without a loss

Lake Travis’ 2012 opponents haven’t gotten off to the greatest of starts. Through two weeks, six of the 10 teams on Lake Travis’ schedule haven’t won yet, and only Westwood, this week’s foe, has won both its games.

The Warriors have beaten two of Lake Travis’ District 15-5A rivals comfortably. Westwood beat Austin High 43-21 to open the season and won 24-7 over Bowie on Friday night.

Of the other nine teams on the Lake Travis schedule, only A&M Consolidated, Del Valle and Westlake have won games. A&M Consolidated beat Copperas Cove 31-20 and lost last week to Waco Midway 34-27. Midway last lost to Lake Travis in the 2011 4A Division I championship game. Del Valle opened the season with a 36-9 win over Seguin before falling last week to Connally 24-21. Westlake beat Cedar Park, a preseason favorite to win the 4A championship, 21-7 but lost a shootout at Temple last week 49-42.
