Knee injury will sideline McRee for season
Lake Travis’ football season hit an early bump in the road.
Junior tight end and Texas commit Lake McRee suffered a knee injury during a passing drill Tuesday afternoon and has been ruled out for the season, Cavalier coach Hank Carter confirmed on Wednesday.
“He made a catch along the sideline in coverage, and when he turned to head up the field, his cleat caught in the grass and he went down,” Carter said. “It’s disappointing. I hate it for him and for our team. We want all of our guys out there playing. It’s a bummer for sure.”
After switching from quarterback to tight end, McRee missed the early part of the 2018 season before making a splash late in the season and in the playoffs. He caught 16 passes for 255 yards and two scores in just six games and was poised to make a larger impact in 2019.
