Hamilton, Munnerlyn Help Lake Travis Avenge 2022 Playoff Loss

Nico Hamilton rushed for a career-high 221 yards and 2 touchdowns and Cole Munnerlyn caught a pair of touchdown passes to carry Lake Travis to a 34-7 win over San Antonio Brennan Friday afternoon.

After allowing a 60-yard run on Brennan's opening possession, the Lake Travis defense settled in. Brennan managed just 155 more yards on the day and struggled to cross midfield.

While the Bears struggled, Lake Travis's offense grew into the game. Trailing 7-3, the Cavaliers took a 24-7 lead into the locker room thanks to a pair of 4th down touchdowns - a 28-yard pass from Chaston Ditta to Munnerlyn and a 49-yard run by Hamilton, and the defense did the rest.

One week after Lake Travis coach Hank Carter remarked that the Cavaliers were happy to be playing in the Alamodome again, he watched his team win its 14th straight game in the building dating back to 2005. The win also improved Lake Travis' playoff record against San Antonio area teams to 21-2 dating back to 2004.

The win also avenged last season's 34-17 loss to Brennan in the third round. The Cavaliers and Bears have met in the playoffs in each of the last 3 seasons.

With the win, Lake Travis advances to the regional championship game and a rematch with rival Westlake on Saturday, Dec. 2.
