Secondary Picks Apart Johnson in 48-21 Win
Lake Travis picked a good night for its best defensive game of the season.
After Josiah Estes returned the opening kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown, the Lake Travis defense intercepted San Antonio Johnson quarterback Ty Hawkins 6 times in the first half, paving the way for a 48-21 win in the 6A, Division I, Region IV Area playoff game.
Running back Nico Hamilton became the biggest beneficiary of the interceptions. He rushed for 136 yards and 3 touchdowns as Lake Travis opened up a 41-7 halftime lead.
Lake Travis (10-2) advances to face San Antonio Brennan in a third-round playoff game. The Cavaliers and Bears will play Friday at 3pm in the Alamodome.
